I’m an aerospace engineer by day and a wheel throwing superhero by night! With a very technical day job, I find making pottery to be a very relaxing way for me to express myself artistically. My passion is in making art that is both visually appealing and meant to be used. I work primarily on wheel thrown forms with an emphasis on functionality. Most of my work is intended for use with food. Being an avid coffee and tea drinker, I really enjoy mugs! There is just something about the weight and feel of a handmade mug that really enhances the drinking experience and can’t be duplicated in commercial ware. In addition to making pottery, I also make the majority of my glazes and some of my wheel throwing tools. Through formulating recipes, testing, adjusting & re-testing, glaze chemistry gives the engineer in me an opportunity to geek out and bring something valuable to my art form. (all of my glazes are lead free and food safe) I’ve been throwing since 2014 and have only recently dipped my toe into the craft show waters.
